Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers reverse fixture against Sierra Leone will be handled by a referee from Guinea, this is sequel to a decision by Confederation of African Football (CAF) to appoint Tawel Camara Younoussa as the match who will hold the whistle at the centre of the potentially explosive match, megasportsarena.com reports.
Younoussa will be joined by three of his compatriots as his aides during the match, which is scheduled to begin 5pm Nigeria time, as Sidiki Sidibe will serve as assistant referee one, Abdoulaye Sylla as assistant referee two and Bangaly Konate will be the fourth official, while the match commissioner will be Silvestre Cantussan from Guinea Bissau.
The Nigerian delegation to Freetown includes a battery of officials from the football federation, led by Ibrahim Musa Gusau and deputy secretary-general, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, in company of Bola Oyeyode (director of competitions).
Others are Augustine Eguavoen (technical director); Ademola Olajire (director of media and communications); Nasiru Jibril (chief technical officer); Emmanuel Ayanbunmi (protocol officer); Mohammed Ameenu (special adviser to general secretary) and Ayo Olu-Ibidapo (media officer).
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com revealed: “Gernot Rohr’s team had a recovery session on Saturday and also trained at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium the following day. West Brom central defender Semi Ajayi is walking a disciplinary tightrope in tomorrow’s clash just as was the case in the matchday three fixture in Benin City.
“The former Arsenal U23 captain picked up a booking against Lesotho, so if he’s yellow-carded against Sierra Leone, he will be suspended for the next match. Nigeria top Group L of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and would qualify for the tournament in Cameroon if they beat the Leone Stars and Lesotho drop points at home to Benin.”
