Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has missed out on the latest list of invitees to the Super Eagles’ camp, as he is reportedly down with injury, megasportsarena.com reports.
Though Ndidi played for his club last weekend in the English Premier League, a statement by the communications department of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed that he will not play any part in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic.
Ndidi misses out alongside Watford of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, who is also down with injury and has been ruled out for five months, meaning they will both miss next week’s clashes with Raoul Savoy’s Wild Beasts.
The three-time African kings would be hoping to extend their perfect start in Group C when they take on Savoy’s side, towards qualifying for the global football showpiece.
Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr will rely on Glasgow Rangers of Scotland’s Joe Aribo to hold firm in midfield.
Aribo’s rookie club mate, 21-year-old Calvin Bassey who can play as a left-back or centre-back has been handed his maiden invitation by Rohr.
Also available are captain Ahmed Musa, vice-captain William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, France based Moses Simon, as well as Aribo’s pal in Glasgow, Leon Aderemi Balogun and Emil Maduka Okoye from Netherlands.
SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen and Racing Genk of Belgium’s Paul Ebere Onuachu will also be expected to unleash their usual venom in attack, with great expectations that they will both replicate their current top club form in green-and-white.
Rohr’s men will take on Central African Republic on October 7 at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos before travelling to Bangui for the return fixture billed for Stade Barthelemy Boganda three days later.
Victory in both games will take them a step closer to the all-important knockout rounds that will produce Africa’s five flag bearers in Qatar.
