Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been rated ‘impossible to be replaced’ by The Foxes’ coach, Brendan Rodgers, who is lamenting the star’s absence for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash in Poland.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, heading into the match versus Legia Warsaw, Rodgers confessed that he will miss the suspended Ndidi as well as the lad’s fellow-Nigerian teammate, Kelechi Iheanacho, who was stopped by immigration.
While lamenting Ndidi’s absence due to accumulated cards, Rodgers also described Iheanacho’s setback as a shame, after the 24-year-old former Columbus Crew of USA and Manchester City of England attacker was stopped on arrival in Poland due to issues with his travel documents.
Iheanacho, who started Leicester’s first Europa League game of the season against SSC Napoli of Italy a fortnight ago and got an assist in the 2-2 draw at King Power Stadium, in which his Super Eagles’ colleague, Victor Osimhen got both for the visitors, was obstructed him from entering Poland.
Rodgers revealed that Iheanacho, who is yet to start an English Premier League game so far this season, would have been handed a starting role I Thursday’s game, as he has impressed in the unfolding term with two goals and two assists.
Sadly, Leicester will also be without Ndidi, as the combative midfielder was sent off after he got two yellow cards in the draw with Napoli, and Rodgers lamented that it is impossible for him to find another player to do the former Nath Boys of Lagos and Racing Genk of Belgium star’s job in Thursday’s game.
Rodgers posited: “It’s impossible to find what we have in Wilf. We have good players, but specifically the job he does in breaking up the play and defending in the box.
“Wilf’s a fabulous player and, hopefully, he’ll be okay for the weekend. He’s irreplaceable, but we have lots of good players.
“You have to find a way. Earlier on in the season, we brought [Boubakary] Soumare into the squad because he gives us that physicality.”
