FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon could be on his way out of his parent club, Levante of Spain for as low as five million euros, if a plan set in motion by the management is his French Ligue 1 club sees the light of day, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Although Simon is only on loan at Nantes from Levante, the French outfit stand to get a bargain deal on his full contract in this summer, after which they would think of selling him at a fee that is much higher than his current market value.
This is because they already have an offer already on the table from a club in China, who are said to have put forward a deal worth 12 million euros for the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium winger.
This means Simon could be on his way to the Chinese Super League, despite two other clubs in the French Ligue 1 also expressing interest in signing the Super Eagles’ star, who Nantes aim to hook by activating his purchase option set at 5 million euros.
Although Nantes are currently in no hurry to sell Simon, they are bound to listen to a concrete lucrative offer for the former Flying Eagles lad, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to New Zealand 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, As well as in the senior national team’s squad that won bronze at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
It is now a case of three fat carrots dangling before Simon, who receives a salary of 150,000 euros every month at Nantes, with which he has had a breakout season in scoring nine goals and setting eight assists during 30 games across all competitions in the cancelled campaign, which makes him an ideal selling bargain for ambitious clubs in China, Spain or France.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon has claimed that Simon is a transfer priority for Rennes this summer and face competition from Lyon. The carrot Rennes will dangle in front of Simon is the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League next season if he decides to move to the club following their third place finish in the Ligue 1.”
The chances of Rennes or Lyon grabbing Simon, though, may depend on if Nantes, who placed 13th in the cancelled season, trigger the option to buy the 24-year-old winger, who is the team’s highest paid player and has done enough to earn a permanent transfer from Levante.
The Eagles star, who has played more as a support-striker at Nantes, and was voted their player for the month in January, said he will welcome any commensurate transfer offer that comes his way this summer, as he recalls battling to keep his spot in the team during his days at Levante.
Simon, whose wife was delivered of their second baby on Friday, told SCORENigeria: “I am more relaxed and settled at Nantes, no pressure. I am also playing to my full potentials because here I am a very offensive player. At Levante, I had to fall back to help out in the defence.”
