Vitoria Guimaraes of Portugal midfielder, Mikel Ndubuisi Agu will now set his sight on May 30th as the date for resumption of action, following a decision by football authorities in the Iberian nation to get the Primera Liga back into full swing.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, with Portugal among few countries less hit by the novel coronavirus scourge that is assailing the world, Agu and other players in the Liga would be excited to learn that their return to action will come at the end of this month.
The Super Eagles’ fringe player, who has previously played on loan from FC Porto to Vitoria Setubal in the same Portuguese top-flight, will now start preparing earnestly to make himself available and fit enough for the resumption of league matches.
This is sequel to a report that Portugal’s government has agreed to allow the country’s top-flight football league to resume on May 30, following a stoppage forced by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Agu will now get the opportunity of trying to see his side climb higher on the log than the sixth spot they achieved before coronavirus put the season on temporary halt.
The country’s Prime Minister, Antonio Costa included the announcement in a presentation of his government’s plan to roll back lockdown measures, during which he said the resumption still depends on health authorities approving measures to make stadiums meet hygiene conditions.
However, Agu and other players may be dampened to learn that all the remaining 10 rounds of fixtures will all be played behind closed doors. Porto are currently ahead of Benfica by one point at the top of the table, after 24 games played.
