A total of five Nigerian-born lads were in action for Arsenal’s junior team, but it was only Miguel Azeez that got one the scorers’ cards in The Gunners’ victory over Chelsea, who had enterprising wing-back, Derrick Abu in their squad,megasportsarena.com reports.
Azeez’s goal added to the pack, as Arsenal’s youth squad finished the season with a 2-1 road win away to Chelsea in the U18 English Premier League, on an evening Germany-born Abu went the distance for the Blues for only the second time this season.
Arsenal’s youth squad’s coach, Ken Gillard started Azeez alongside Mazeed Ogungbo, Daniel Oyegoke, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Joel Ideho, in a game that saw the first of the quintet open scoring 16 minutes into the contest.
The game came after Azeez had been set up with a neat pass by Ideho, who combined well with his18-year-oldcompatriot that has been tipped to make his English Premier League debut in the coming season.
Before now, Azeez had been named in The Gunners’ matchday squads for their UEFA Europa League games on five occasions this term and was an unused substitute against Sheffield United last month in the EPL.
Youthful central defender, Zach Awe replaced Oyedeji with three minutes remaining of the encounter, which left in fourth place with 40 points, three more than their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who have a game in hand.
