Sparta Rotterdam of Netherlands goalkeeper, Emil Maduka Okoye had a sordid comeback game to forget, as he conceded two goals in his first match back after injury, but was relieved that his side got a point at home.

Although the former Düsseldorf of Germany shot-stopper admitted he truly felt happy being back in action after a spell out on the sidelines, he admitted it could have been a better story for him.

However, megasportsarena.com gathered, rather than the espied blissful end to his return from injury, Okoye returned in a 2-2 draw with Vitesse on Saturday, as the 22-year-old got back into action for his Dutch club.

During his time out injured, Okoye missed Sparta’s last two matches after suffering a knock in the first-half of their 1-0 loss to Ajax on November 28.

However, in his first game back, Okoye could not prevent his side from conceding two first-half goals at Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel but the hosts fought back after the restart with Sven Mijnans salvaging a point with his brace.

Hendrikus Fraser’s side are enduring a poor run of results in the Dutch Eredivisie as they are currently winless in their last six matches.

Saturday’s draw compounded Sparta’s woes in the season, as they languish in the drop zone, with 12 points after 17 matches in the 17th spot.

Okoye has been a regular starter in Hendrikus Fraser’s team and for the Super Eagles, for which he played all but one of their matches in the second round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
