Lobi Stars of Makurdi attacker, Samad Kadiri has expressed confidence in the club’s ability to keep rising on the Nigeria Professional; Football League (NPFL) log, especially after they climbed to second position with another victory last weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
In the wake of his team’s 1-0 win against visiting Katsina United, Kadiri is of a view that the Middle Belt side are being blessed for the players total focus and dedication, which he believes will be stronger in the second half of the campaign next year.
He added during Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that they also owe a lot to Benue State government for backing the club’s management fully and to the coaching crew for reeling out the right tactics that helped the players get desired results during matches.
The in-form attacker, though, admitted that they will have to keep their feet on the throttle and do even better in the second half of the season next year, as the race to become champions again, after nicking the abridged version of the champions the previous season, will not be easy.
Victory for Coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s men keeps them on the heels of league leaders Plateau United, who also picked up maximum points.
Alongside Plateau United, Kano Pillars and Lobi Stars both picked up wins on Sunday in the NPFL as the continued their impressive unbeaten runs in five games.
In the last five matches, Pillars and Lobi have been the most in-form teams and consolidated with wins over FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Katsina United respectively, while Abdul Maikaba guided Plateau United to their six win of the season, coming after a goalless draw against Rangers.
The Tin City side, champions in 2017, are now three points clear at the summit of the table, with Lobi in second and they have a game in hand, but Kadiri believes his team will give a very good fight in the second half of the season come 2020.
Kadiri concluded: “We are happy with the win last weekend. I am personally happy that I scored the only goal, and I thank my teammates for helping me. We are doing well this season, we that God and the state government for helping us.
“The coaches are also giving us the technical direction to go, and I believe, with more hard work, we can thinking of winning the league again this season, when everything ends next year.”
