Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has escaped from the potential threat of having Bayern Munich of Germany dazzler, Philippe Coutinho as a rival in The Fixes’ squad next season, as his club’s boss, Brendan Rodgers has ruled out a move for the Brazilian ace, megasportsarena.com reports.
In contrast with initial talk that Rodgers had been thinking about reenacting the union he had with Liverpool of England, during their time together at Anfield, latest information out of King Power Stadium indicates that Iheanacho need no longer worry about seeing the versatile Brazilian land at his club this summer.
The fear of Coutinho, who is on loan at Bayern from Barcelona of Spain, had been that he would further edge Iheanacho down the perking order upfront at Leicester, because he can play as an attacker, winger and midfielder, all of which Iheanacho too is touted for, but has not been able to enact since arriving from Manchester City in a megabucks deal.
However, when it appeared as another player, who is also a left-footer like the Super Eagles’ star, would arrive to rival him in every department he could fit into with The Foxes, Iheanacho will be relieved to hear that Rodgers has conceded that his club would not be able to afford Coutinho during this summer’s transfer window.
Before now, Leicester were one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in the former Liverpool playmaker, who has been in relatively strong form for Bayern this season, contributing nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
However, although the Brazil international is still widely expected to leave Camp Nou at the end of this season, in search of pastures new, he will not be moving to rival Iheanacho at Leicester, as Rodgers admitted that the 27-year-old star, who has a contract with Barca until June 2023, is way out of his club’s price bracket.
“I’ve seen lots of speculation around young Phil, I don’t think… Philippe’s a wonderful player, a brilliant talent, but he would be someone who is way out of our price bracket,” Rodgers said.
