Al-Adalah of Saudi Arabia midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu (Suker) has felt the real weight of social isolation occasioned by the novel coronavirus pandemic, as he ended up spending his 32nd birthday in self-isolation at home, megasportsarena.com reports.
In contrast with previous birthdays that come with pomp and pageantry, as his friends and loved ones often gathered to frolic and enjoy exciting moments with him, it was a different case this time, as he spent it only with his immediate family at his side.
Indeed, it had been only few hours that Ogu flew into Nigeria aboard a private plane, alongside fellow-Saudi Arabia-based Ahmed Musa, who also went into quarantine immediately on arrival in Abuja, such that Ogu, whose club are bottom of the table in the oil rich Middle East country was left alone to spend his birthday in self-isolation.
The tall left-footer, who moved to Saudi Arabia in January and has been playing for his club in central defence since then, took to social media to give thanks to God for helping him see yet another birthday, even as he revealed how he is conforming with all social distancing rules.
Ogu, who stated that he is grateful to God for keeping him alive, even as he marked his birthday with stay at home and lockdown rules put in place by various governments to ensure COVID-19 does not escalate, also posted a charge to his fans, as he urged them thus: βYβall Stay at Home. It my birthday. Grateful to God to witness another year ππ»ππ».β
