Nottingham Forest are set to land their second Nigerian signing 24 hours ago after the capture of Taiwo Awoniyi.
Megasportsarena.com understands that they are now the frontrunners to sign Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo.
There has been interest from Fulham and Crystal Palace in the Rangers star, while Aston Villa, managed by ex-Gers gaffer Steven Gerrard, have also been linked to the midfielder.
But after 23 years out of the top flight, billionaire Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is determined to make sure they avoid heading back to the Championship.
The Greek shipping tycoon is understood to have given boss Steve Cooper the green light to pursue his interest in Awoniyi’s Nigeria team-mate Aribo.
Aribo is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Rangers. He played 70 games for the Ibrox outfit last season – more than any player – and has become an integral part of manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.
