Southampton may have hinted at goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu’s squad number following his £12million summer move from Manchester City, ahead of the start of the Premier League season, but Joe Aribo awaits his, Megasportsarena.com reports.
Bazunu is just one of five new additions to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad alongside Rangers phenomenal performer last season, Joe Aribo, Romeo Lavia, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Mateusz Lis.
While the outfield players await a squad number, it appears the two goalkeepers may have been given theirs.
In training pictures released by the Southampton website on Tuesday afternoon, Bazunu is seen wearing the No.31 while Liz appears to be wearing 69 although it’s hard to make it out exactly.
Aribo, Lavia and Bella-Kotchap were seen in Saints training gear but with no numbers on the front of their tops.
These numbers may not be final, with players expecting to be sold and the final shirt numbers of the season not being needed to be finalised for another few weeks.
There was also a familiar face back in training with the first team having spent last season out on loan. Dynel Simeu gained valuable senior football experience during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign with Carlisle in League Two and is now back looking to make an impact at St Mary’s.
