Tim Iroegbunam is set to continue his development at Villa Park and may likely not be farmed out to another club.

Megasportsarena.com understands that Aston Villa do not currently plan on sending him  out on loan next season amid interest from the Championship, with Boubacar Kamara set to mentor the teen midfielder.

Steven Gerrard intends on keeping the 18-year-old at Villa Park this summer. He wants to see the youngster learn and develop first-hand from Kamara, following the Frenchman’s free transfer from Marseille sealed in May.

Iroegbunam is still making the step up from youth to senior level football after three first-team appearances last season.

The youngster enjoyed his breakthrough outing in February, and later registered his maiden start at home to Norwich City in April.

Gerrard now wants to see how Iroegbunam grows at Aston Villa with a player of Kamara’s ilk to learn from. The possibility for a temporary transfer away from Villa Park could later resurface to give the England U19 international further chances to ply his trade next term.

Numerous Championship sides are be interested in taking Iroegbunam on loan from Aston Villa this summer. They face waiting until deep into the market for a chance to sign the West Brom product, as Gerrard will afford him chances in pre-season.

Iroegbunam will not return to Birmingham until later in the off-season schedule, as well, as he is currently with the Young Lions. The midfielder has built on his breakthrough in March with starting roles in Euro U19 Championship group stage ties against Austria and Serbia.
