Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has received a splash of accolades from the English Premier League club’s coach, Brendan Rodgers and his strike partner, Patson Daka.
The latest shower of praise for Iheanacho comes after he gave Daka two assists that helped The Foxes snatch a come-from-behind 4-3 win away to Spartak Moscow of Russia in the UEFA Europa League.
In the wake of Wednesday’s encounter in Moscow, Daka acknowledged how important Iheanacho’s passes were in helping him get two of his four goals notched on the night, while Rodgers hailed what he called consistent form from the Super Eagles’ star.
Rodgers went on to hail the recent burst of form from Iheanacho, who has contributed goals and assists in his last five matches across all competitions for The Foxes, for which his involvement in scoring moved up to eight for the season.
Iheanacho popped into the highlights after Sobolev and Larsson scored to put the hosts 2-0 up, but Daka gave Leicester hope when he halved the deficit just before the break and then got the visitors back on level terms when he converted from close range in the 48th minute.
That came after Iheanacho squared the ball to the Zambia international and Rodgers recalled: “In the second half, Youri [Tielemans] produced a great pass that’s set up Kels to cross it and finish, so he’s in the right place at the right time.”
Daka expressed similar relish about Iheanacho, as the Zambia ace, who has blended well with Iheanacho, praised the former Taye Football Academy of Owerri, Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City of England attacker for setting up two of the goals he got against Victor Moses’ side.
With age not on Jamie Vardy’s side anymore, Leicester signed Daka as a potential replacement for the former England striker and the former RB Salzburg of Austria hitman has admitted that he enjoys playing up front with Iheanacho.
Daka, who now has five goals in his last two games for Leicester, against Manchester United and Spartak Moscow, posited: “It was great to play alongside Iheanacho, and it’s because of how we train.
“It all starts in training, it doesn’t matter who you play with because we understand each other in training and we continue to support each other.
“In the game it has showed, even in the previous games when he plays with Vardy or anyone else it shows, so it all comes down to training.”
