Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi ‘Kelz’ Iheanacho has admitted that his goal against Chelsea on Tuesday was spoiled by an on-field quarrel among players on both sides as well as the fact that his side lost the game, megasportsarena.com reports..
Despite Iheanacho adding to his goals tally for the season, Chelsea went above Leicester and into the Champions League driving seat after beating The Foxes 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, where two of the opposing players got into a spat on the night.
The brawl began when Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger reacted to Ricardo Pereira’s late challenge on Ben Chilwell, but both sides could be fined by England’s Football Association for failing to control their players during the game.
It happened on a night Iheanacho netted his 12th goal in the English top-flight, taking his tally to nineteen in all competitions for the season, with a total of 19 in all competitions this term, as he extended his personal best tally for a single campaign.
Iheanacho and Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi were in action for The Foxes, with the in-form striker coming off the bench an hour into the game and the holding midfielder putting in a full shift, but Chelsea established a two-goal lead thanks to efforts from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho.
Later on, Iheanacho pulled a goal back in the 76th minute, as he tucked the ball away into the bottom corner after Ndidi won possession and played it through to his international teammate, and the former Manchester City lad became the first player in Premier League history to score a goal on all seven days of the week within a single season in the competition.
Iheanacho, though admitted his disappointment overall, even as he tried to play peacemaker when tempers boiled over and he later told Sky Sports: “Antonio Rudiger went aggressively on Ricardo Pereira and that is what caused the fight. I was telling him to calm down.”
