Manchester United of England striker, Odion Jude Ighalo on Friday showed that he is not getting careless over the issue of coronavirus, as he wore a mask to the club’s training ground, megasportsarena.com reports.
Football lovers would have thought Ighalo would be the least cautious about coronavirus, having escaped infection while still based in China, at the early stage of the pandemic, when the ailment appeared to be deadlier than now.
Being close to the epicenter of coronavirus meant Ighalo was more at risk to being infected during his stay in China, where he moved on loan from Shanghai Shenhua to United only in January, which was at the peak of the respiratory defect spreading through the communist country.
Incidentally, Ighalo did wear a mask on his way to the airport and before boarding the plane that took him to Manchester, where he quickly self-isolated for two weeks, and was advised not to join the squad in training, thereby missing their winter break camp in Spain.
With all that done and behind him, it would seem Ighalo has overcome the worst fears of coronavirus, but the former Super Eagles striker arrived at Manchester’s training ground wearing a face mask, the morning after helping United beat LASK Linz of Austria 5-0 away in the UEFA Europa League.
His club’s trip to north London to face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend in the English Premier League has been called off, due to worries over coronavirus, but the 30-year-old Ighalo and all other players in the team reported for training at the club’s Carrington complex on Friday.
Ighalo was among the players that drove themselves to the complex in their personal cars, and he was spotted wearing a protective face mask, just as many of his teammates equally donned one form of protection or the other to ward off any ill-effects of the coronavirus scourge.
