Manchester United striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has declared continued love for the fans of his former club, Watford, as he says the chanting they gave him last weekend showed that they still remember what he did for them during two seasons and a half, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Ighalo helped his new club beat Watford 3-0 last weekend in the English Premier League, The Hornets’ faithful cheered him as he went on as a substitute and again after the game, and the former Super Eagles’ admits he was excited with the development.
While acknowledging that he has a special relationship with the Watford fans, Ighalo confessed thyat he will continue having a soft spot for the club he left in 2017 to join Changchun Yatai of China, from he moved to Shanghai Shenhua, who loaned him to Man United last month.
Ighalo has now played three matches as s substitute for The Red Devils, which he joined on January transfer deadline day and, in the third of those games, the Nigerian star received loud chants from the travelling fans at Old Trafford, where they sang his name despite the defeat.
After the 30-year-old Ighalo made his home debut for United and almost scored, the Nigerian striker, who got 40 goals in 100 matches for The Hornets, starting with a season in the English Championship before one and half in the top-flight EPL, said he was delighted with the chants.
Ighalo told Watford Observer: “It’s always special to hear the Watford fans sing your name because they know what I’ve done for them in the past when I was there. They are always in my heart and I love them for that.
“My wish is for them to keep fighting to remain in the Premier League because I know they have a good team, they are good people, it’s a family club and they have a good owner and I just wish them all the very best to remain in the Premier League.”
