Hamilton Academical of Scotland defender, Hakeem Odoffin has disclosed that he is already enjoying the cordial atmosphere he has experienced at the club so soon after his arrival from their Scottish Premiership rivals, Livingston, and enthused that it can only get better, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although his new club have struggled at the start of the new season in Scotland, Nigerian-born Odoffin stressed that he is feeling at home already, as he has been able to settle down fast and fit into a seamless transition at his new base, even as he is getting twice as determined as ever to help Hamilton reach greater height.
While also admitting he wants to use the club in taking the next step forward in his career, the former Livingston battler added that he is so happy and relaxed being among such wonderful teammates, crew and fans at his new base, where he further pointed out that the fact of him having been in Scotland earlier makes it easier for him to adjust to a novel life at Hamilton.
Hamilton lost their first two games of the new season, with a 5-1 defeat away to Celtic and 1-0 slump at home against Ross County, but the 22-year-old Odoffin remains optimistic and have a massive boost from the in-form defender, who started in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy and played for 18 months at The Lions before moving to Accies this summer on a contract until 2021.
Odoffin, who has had previous spells at Northampton, Eastleigh, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Barnet, said he is already looking forward to the visit of St. Mirren on Saturday and declared: “Everyone has been brilliant since I got here. They are nice people, good lads, and the gaffer has been great. I want to play as long as possible at as high a level as possible.
“It was actually really easy. It was seamless. It is still up in Scotland and I have played in the league before. As a footballer you just want to play the best you can, do the best you can for the team you are in, showcase your talents and get the best results you can.
“My focus is the here and now. I take it week by week. I let the gaffer focus on the long term. My focus is on the game at the weekend and being ready if I’m picked. We take positives from every game we play in. Last week we were disappointed not to get anything from the game but there are definitely bits and bobs we can work on, get better at.
“There is definitely things that we are doing well that we can progress on, so it is just a process and it is about taking everything we do well in training into Saturday and try to get a result. We go into every game at home thinking we can win it so we have to have that mind set.”
