Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets’ left-back at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, Charles Etim has admitted that the squad need to play better as a united side and string their passes more accurately, megasportsarena.com reports.
Speaking against the backdrop of lapses noticed in their first two matches, as they came from 2-1 down to beat Hungary 4-2 on Saturday and Ecuador 3-2 on Tuesday, Etim conceded that the Eaglets have not played seamlessly together as a team.
The right-footed defender, who gave away the penalty that saw Ecuador shoot ahead of the Eaglets on Tuesday, after going behind initially in the fifth minute, added that he and his colleagues need better understanding in their next game on Friday, in order to finish their Group B outings on a 100% mark and without defeat.
Heading into Friday’s last group match in Brasilia, Etim went spiritual and [philosophical, as he expressed belief in God to help see the side through the round of 16 and into the final, where he believes they stand a good chance of winning the cup at stake, but admitted that they must play better as a team, as well as with improved efforts in defence and attack.
”We pray for victory and we know that with God all things are possible. We need to defend and attack together, then press together. With that we can get a result,” Etim submitted.
