Milwaukee Bucks of America sensation, Giannis Adetokunbo (Antetokounmpo) was again talk of the town, as his late crucial block helped his side eke out victory and level their scores to 2-2 against Phoenix Suns in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA) finals.
Antetokounmpo was back at his best, after shaking off an injury that almost put him doubt for the NBA Finals, and what a spectacle he created with 74 seconds left in a tense and tight Game 4.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, at a point the game appeared that it could flip either way and The Bucks needed something to stop The Suns from tying the scoreline at 101-all.
The Suns’ biggest ace, Devin Booker tortured the Bucks all night, dribbling and searching for an opening, such that The Bucks were forced to throw two men at him; because the sparkling guard, who finished with 42 points, demanded respect and Giannis slowly drew closer to the in-form star on the court.
Bucks’ ace, Khris Middleton and Booker both had 40-point games but it was the Milwaukee Bucks who rallied late in the fourth quarter, thanks in part to a miraculous Giannis Antetokounmpo block, to take Game 4 109-103 and tie the series at 2-2.
Middleton scored 10 consecutive points in the final period and 40 overall for a new playoff career-high as the Bucks evened the NBA Finals with The Suns on Wednesday night.
Tied at 99, Middleton put the Bucks up by two with a smooth jumper from the left elbow and Giannis Antetokounmpo blocked Deandre Ayton on a lob at the other end with an incredible defensive play, swinging the momentum firmly in favour of the home team.
Antetokounmpo had 26 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks, along with nine assists. On something of an off night, Chris Paul had 10 points, seven assists and five turnovers. Ayton, meanwhile, had six points and a game-high 17 rebounds for Phoenix.
In the end though, it was Middleton who went off down the stretch as well as he, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks prevailed to tie the series 2-2 and it’s now back to Phoenix for a vital Game 5 on Saturday night.
Booker made the right basketball play and softly tossed to Ayton, who for a split second was all alone – until he was not, but Giannis was thrilled getting the final laugh on his main rival.
Giannis recalled: “I saw the play coming. I saw it coming. I felt him rolling behind me. I was thinking, hopefully I could get there in time. I thought I was doing to get dunked on, to be honest. The only chance for me was to jump toward the rim.”
