Arsenal of England youngster, Folarin Balogun is rating high on the mind of The Gunners’ coach, Mikel Arteta, with latest reports indicating that the Spanish tactician is thinking big of the lad for his main team in days to come, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Folarin is yet to cement a spot in The Gunners’ first team, despite a smattering of training sessions with the lads, the latest report out of Emirates Stadium indicates that he could soon get the lift up he so much desires.
This is sequel to feelers indicating that top shots at the London-based club are considering offering him a fatter contract with better trappings, based on Arteta’s recommendations, which could spell tales of a rosy future ahead of him with the English Premier League giants.
This much is contained in a report by British website, sportsmole’s editor, Barney Corkhill, quoting The Athletic, in which Balogun is rated the next exciting thing out of Emirates Stadium and already an apple of the eye for Arteta, as the club’s former captain continues making plans for a rosy future for the side.
The report added: “Arsenal have reportedly rekindled talks over a new contract for striker Folarin Balogun. The 19-year-old was wanted by Sheffield United during the summer, only for Arsenal to reject a £3m bid for his services and place a £15m asking price on his head.
“However, Balogun’s current contract at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire next year, meaning that he would be able to leave on a free transfer next summer and is able to open talks with foreign clubs from January.
“Brentford are also understood to have had a multi-million pound bid for the youngster turned down in the past, and The Athletic reports that manager Mikel Arteta is keen to keep hold of him beyond 2021 and has subsequently revived talks over a contract extension.
“Balogun has been in prolific form for Arsenal’s youth teams in recent years and made his senior debut for the club in their Europa League clash with Dundalk last month. Southampton, Brighton & Hove Albion and AC Milan are among the other clubs to have been credited with an interest in Balogun.”
