Chelsea of England defender, Fikayo Tomori is set to join AC Milan of Italy in a full contract worth £25m, following an agreement reached between both clubs, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Chelsea had initially sounded reluctant to let go of Tomori, who they sent on loan to Milan for the past season, a deal appea4rs to have been ironed out eventually.
This is sequel to updated information from The Land of The Azzurri, indicating that Milan will exercise the option to sign Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a permanent deal this summer for £25m.
The 23-year-old Tomori joined Milan on an initial six-month loan in January and helped the club secure a second-placed finish and a return to the UEFA Champions League after a seven-year absence.
Before the move to Milan, the Chelsea academy graduate made only one English Premier League appearance earlier this season under The Blues’ former coach, Frank Lampard prior to his loan departure.
Sky in Italy reported that Milan held talks with Chelsea in recent days in an attempt to lower the agreed £25m transfer fee but the London-based EPL outfit refused their offer for Tomori, who won his only senior England cap so far against Kosovo in November 2019, shortly before he signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Milan, whose plans have been outlined by the coach, Stefano Pioli, are expected to finalise the paperwork and announce the transfer next week, and one of the pivotal points is the issue of Tomori, who made 17 league appearances at Milan, scoring once against Juventus.
Incidentally, Fikayo is one of eight Nigerian-born players that have been retained by Chelsea in their roster for next season, as his name appears along with those of Ike Ugbo, Bryan Fiabema, Derrick Abu, Prince Adegoke, Faustino Anjorin, Tariq Uwakwe and Victor Moses.
