Feyenoord Rotterdam will not exercise the purchase option of Cyriel Dessers and therefore will not buy him from KRC Genk, Megasportsarena.com reports.
The Rotterdammers have officially informed the Limburgers about this and Genk confirmed it on their website.
It was reported that Feyenoord were willing to put four million euros from the buyout clause on the table, but the club did not come to an agreement with the Nigeria international about his salary.
Dessers will return to Genk, where he still has a contract until June 30, 2024. It remains to be seen whether Dessers will move to another club this summer or fight for his place in the Cegeka Arena.
Dessers attracted the attention in the Europa Conference League, scoring with his eyes closed and becoming the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals.
He played a large part in Feyenoord’s reaching the final but it’s shocking that the Rotterdam club aren’t interesting in keeping the attacker.
