Bournemouth of England have taken their uncanny relationships with Nigerian players to yet another dramatic level by confirming as deal for emergent midfielder, Ferdinand Okoh, who will now join Dominic Solanke, Calvin Bassey, Arnaut Danjuma and Philip Chinedu Billing in their squad, megasportsarena.com reports.
Okoh joins The Cherries just as another Nigerian-born player, Jordon Ibe heads out, after he failed to hit top marks in four years with the club he joined from Liverpool, while Danjuma has also struggled since arriving from Club Brugge of Belgium, but Solanke and Billing recently made headlines with some solid form and goals.
However, the new arrival from Tottenham Hotspur will start in the youth ranks at Bournemouth, as he has signed a two-year scholarship deal and he has already been deployed to the under-18 team that is being handled by Alan Connell, under who Okoh will learn the ropes along with the club’s array of first-year scholars next season.
The gaffer has already stated delight with Bournemouth’s acquisition of Okoh, who had a spell with West Ham United prior to his move to Tottenham last year and was offered a deal by The Cherries after he was scouted by the head of their academy recruitment, Carl Robson.
Connell told Bournemouth’s official website: “Ferdinand was released by Tottenham and we liked the look of him straightaway. He is a destructive central midfield player who likes to win back the ball and is also very tidy on it.”
