Sheffield United of England youngster, Femi Seriki has admitted he was truly and deeply delighted to make his debut in the English Premier League, adding that he was more than grateful with the feat.
Speaking in the wake of his outing with The Blades against Newcastle United, Seriki acknowledged that losing the game dented his historic night in the EPL, but stressed that he remains happy that he finally for a game under his boots in the English top-flight.
Seriki, who joined Sheffield United in September 2019 from Bury Town, who suffered financial difficulties, has grown in leaps and bounds since bursting unto the scene as a kid on the streets of Manchester, has been rewarded for his superb form with Sheffield United’s under-23 team.
He went on to give thanks to the club’s coach, Paul Heckingbottom for handing him his professional debut against at St James’ Park on Wednesday, as he went on as a replacement for Jayden Bogle in the third minute of second half stoppage time.
Arsenal loanee, Joe Willock became the youngest player to score in six consecutive EPL games when he netted the winner just before half-time but, aged 19 years and 21 days on Wednesday, Seriki is the 18th youngest player to feature this season in the top-fight, after which he took to social media to reveal his depth of glee.
Seriki, who made the bench against Port Vale in an English League Two clash, and was also a non-playing substitute versus Mansfield Town in the EFL Trophy, posted: “Despite the result, I am more than grateful to make my Premier League Debut for @sheffieldunited ⚔️❤️ #godisgood.”
