Sweden-based female striker, Evelyn Ijeh is reeling lyrical about her first outing in the Nigerian women national team, Super Falcons’ camp, and disclosed that all the players are giving 100% energy during training.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the Falcons are preparing to play host at the maiden Aisha Buhari International Invitational Competition in Lagos, ahead of which Ijeh is enjoying her debut camping experience with the squad.
The daughter of former Super Eagles’ striker, Peter Ijeh, is in the Falcons’ camp with her sister, Josephine, who plays in the same Swedish club, and they are both relishing the atmosphere of amity and zeal with their new colleagues.
This much Evelyn Ijeh disclosed, as she also spoke about her delight at having a chance to represent Nigeria, insisting that it is “always nice” to be around people with similarities.
The 19-year-old lass declared that she is determined to make the best of her surprise call up alongside her younger sibling, Josephine.
Both players are daughters of former Peter Ijeh who carved a niche for himself at Malmo FF in Sweden, though he never really cemented a place for himself in the Super Eagles, hence his desire to see his daughters achieve what he could not.
Evelyn will be 20 next month while Josephine is 18 already, and the older sibling described the Falcons’ invitation as exciting and initially unbelievable.
They are now both aiming to make good impressions on the national team coaches led by Randy Waldrum in order to have a chance of being invited for September’s competition in Lagos.
The BK Hacken forward told www.aclsports.com she is enjoying a special aura among people of same ideologies and she added: “It’s always nice to be with your own kind of people sometimes.
“The Swedish national team is where you meet people that you speak the same language, but I think Nigeria is more like you actually have some similarities.
“(This is) due to the fact that both of my parents are from Africa. So, it is more like you come to the Nigerian national team and everybody is the same and are similar to you.
“It’s been nice coming to an environment where everybody talks and there are so much positive energy like everyone is into this and gives 100%.
“It was actually really fun to see the invitation because my Dad told us we might get invited and when we got the ticket and everything was set, we were like, oh, we’re actually going to the national team so it was really an exciting feeling.”
