SC Heerenveen of Holland rave of the moment, Chidera Ejuke is bound to follow the footsteps of former Super Eagles’ stars, Stephen Ayodele Makinwa (Tiger of Lagos) and Eddy Ogenyi Onazi, as well as ex-Golden Eaglets’ winger, Seyi Adeleke (Solari) at SS Lazio of Italy, following interest from the Serie A club in his signature this summer.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Lazio became very popular in the sight of Nigerian football fans due to the days Makinwa and Onazi spent in their senior squad, while Adeleke was prominent in the Rome-based side’s youth teams, such that seeing Ejuke join the club could be a revival of their Nigerian tradition, even as the club currently have Bobby Adekanye on their cards, but he has Dutch nationality.
The massive transfer opening for Ejuke comes from feelers that Lazio are looking to strengthen their attack this summer and, with the emergent Nigerian forward on fire for Heerenveen this season, he could be on his way to Rome at the edn of the current campaign.
Details of this development are provided by Rome-based Italian sports daily, Corriere dello Sport, which disclosed that La Biancocelesti have renewed interest in Ejuke, who was once on trial at Liverpool of England before his move to Holland last summer.
The 22-year-old Ejuke, who is officially the top dribbler in the Dutch Eredivisie, is valued in the region of five million euros by transfer market experts but that fee could rise considering his consistent performances since the beginning of the season.
The former Valerenga of Norway youngster, who has scored 10 goals and six assists across all competitions this season, could this summer be on his way to joining Adekanye, who signed a first team contract with Lazio last summer and has played seven games for them so far.
