Bayern Munich of Germany’s Nigerian-born left-back, David Olatokunbo Alaba is reportedly attracting summer transfer attention from Juventus of Italy, whose officials are said to already be in advanced negotiations with his representatives, megasportsarena.com reports.
The report out of The Land of The Azzurri indicates that Alaba has been sounded out about the possibility of making a move to Turin, Italy at the end of this campaign, when he would be a free agent, since his current contract has a single year to run.
Despite his long-term stay with The Bavarians and effects of aging, the 28-year-old Alaba is still a vital player for Bayern, such that The Old Lady also want to have a feel of the Nigerian-born Austria international once his contract at Allianz Arena expires next June.
With additional reports indicating that Alaba has turned down the chance of a new contract with Bayern, many top European clubs are reportedly in the hunt for his signature, and Juventus are now joining the race that already includes Barcelona and Real Madrid of Spain as well as Chelsea and Manchester City of England.
They have all been credited with interest in the Austria international, who has a Nigerian father and mother from Philippines, but opted to play for the country of his birth, Austria, at full international level and he been with Bayern since 2008; during which time he has won nine Bundesliga titles and two UEFA Champions League gong with the German champions.
A report by Sportmediaset added: “Juve are in the driving seat for Alaba, with the Italian giants already in advanced talks with his entourage over a switch to Turin. As it stands, the versatile defender would be able to sign a pre-contract with the Old Lady in January ahead of a move on a free transfer next summer.”
