PSV Eindhoven of Holland youngster, Chinonso Madueke is attracting summer transfer interest from Leicester City of England, but the UEFA Champions League hopefuls will have to redouble their efforts if they will outwit a horde of European clubs, megasportsarena.com reports.
With the summer transfer window looming large, Madueke continues putting himself into pole position for a deal that would see him leave Eindhoven, and Leicester are now keen on adding the winger to their Nigerian ensemble at King Power Stadium.
Madueke could take after Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Chima Daniel Uchechi as the next Nigerian player to sign for Leicester, who currently have the duo of Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Kelechi ‘Kels’ Iheanacho on their cards, but that will depend on their bargaining power at the end of this season.
This is sequel to a report by British tabloid, Daily Mail UK, which revealed that Madueke is on Leicester’s radar, but the 2015/16 English Premier League champions are already facing stiff competition for his signature from RB Leipzig of Germany, AC Milan of Italy and Lille Metropole of France.
An additional report by allnigeriasoccer.com also noted: “Brendan Rodgers attempted to sign the England U21 international whilst coaching Celtic but the former Tottenham Hotspur schoolboy opted to join PSV in 2018.
“He has performed extremely well since breaking into PSV’s first team, contributing to 17 goals (9 goals, 8 assists) in 33 matches across all competitions. It is claimed that any club interested in signing Madueke would have to splash out fifteen million pounds as transfer fee.
“PSV hope to keep the Anglo-Nigerian for one more season to increase his asking price but would consider selling the player if they receive a good offer, especially if they don’t qualify for the group stage of the Champions League next season.
“Madueke has a similar playing style to former Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez and his main attributes are his pace, acceleration, dribbling, passing and ball control. Madueke’s contract at PSV Eindhoven runs out at the end of the 2023-2024 season.”
