CSKA Moocow of Russia winger, Chidera Ejuke has received some comforting news in the update about the injury he copped last weekend, as coach of the army-owned Russian Premier League club’s coach, Aleksey Berezutski said it is not as serious as initially thought.
Although Berezutski admitted that the knock came at a point Ejuke was on top of its game, as it happened in the closing minutes of his side’s 2-0 win against FK Nizhny Novgorod on Monday, he is staying optimistic for the dazzler.
Megasportsarena.com reports further that, before bowing out, Ejuke provided an assist for the Muscovites’ opening goal past the half hour mark, but the former SC Heerenveen master-dribbler went to ground with just nine minutes from time.
He copped a leg injury near the penalty area while trying to beat an opposing player, following which he quickly took off his boots but was able to walk off the pitch without the assistance of medics.
It raised worries lines across fans of the player, who statisticians at OPTA rated top dribbler in the Russian Premier League after nine rounds of matches, with 26 dribbles completed (including four against Nizhny Novgorod, five more than any other player in the league.
Berezutski, though, has now downplayed the concern as he gave details of the setback and said: “As for the injury- as I understand it, his leg just came together. We’ll find out in the near future, but I don’t think he has anything serious.”
