Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has gained prime spot in his link with ex-Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Carl Onuoha Ikeme’s former club, Wolverhampton Wanderers of England, as the English Premier League giant-killers are said to be leading the race for his signature, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Bonaventure is also said to have attracted summer transfer attention from two clubs he scored against in the UEFA Europa League, Real Madrid of Spain and Manchester United of England, he might end up signing for Wolves at Molineux Stadium instead.
This is according to highly-respected Eurosport writer, Manu Lonjon, who took to social media to disclose that Wolves are now at the head of the march to hook Bonaventure and add him to the long line of Nigerian tradition at their club, which also once had Dominic Iorfa Jnr.
Aside Real and United, other clubs said to be keen on signing the 22-year-old Bonaventure are Arsenal, Newcastle United, Everton, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield United, Watford and Crystal Palace, but work permit issues are already cropping up against him.
This is because Bonaventure, who starred for the under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles in their failed attempt to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Games, does not have a 75% appearance ratio with the senior squad, Super Eagles over the past two years.
An additional report by allnigeriasoccer.com noted that all English Premier League seeking to sign Bonaventure will have to pay in the region of fifteen million pounds as transfer fee before they would be able to get a work permit for the fast-rising lad, who got two appearances for the Eagles as a late substitute in friendlies against Ukraine and Brazil.
The former Zorya Lugansk of Ukraine attacker, who scored nine goals and got two assists from 33 appearances this season, has roughly two years remaining on his contract with Club Brugge, which he joined in 2017, but could now be on his way to Wolves or any other club this summer.
A report by Sports Mole adds: “Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved ahead of Arsenal and a host of other Premier League rivals in the race to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Club Brugge. The 22-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of European clubs as a result of his form in 2019-20, scoring nine goals across all competitions, including a brace against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
“Wolves are understood to be in the market for attacking reinforcements in order to provide more back-up for Raul Jimenez, who has made 44 appearances across all competitions this season. Patrick Cutrone was signed by the club last summer but left on loan for Fiorentina just six months later, and Eurosport claim that Dennis has now emerged as a possible target for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
“However, the Midlands outfit are expected to face competition for the Nigerian’s signature, with Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle United and Leicester City among the other clubs rumoured to be interested. Dennis has directly contributed to 11 goals in 33 appearances this term, including five in Brugge’s title-winning campaign.”
