Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has attracted strong transfer links with the English Premier League quartet of Newcastle United, Brighton Hove Albion, Sheffield United and Watford, megasportsarena.com reports.
Expectations are now rife about a likely move to Queensland in the summer for Bonaventure, even as his club aim to cash in on the prospects by placing a transfer fee of €25m on his head.
Despite Club Brugges’ seemingly high demands, expectations are rife that all four EPL clubs would scramble over one another to grab Bonaventure this summer, as he could further boost his value and additionally enhance his reputation in the UEFA Europa League later this month.
The 22-year-old one cap Super Eagles’ player and former under-23 national team invitee, who struck twice against Real Madrid of Spain earlier in this season’s UEFA Champions League, before his side crashed into the second-tier continental competition, would be hoping that he and his Brugge teammates excel against Manchester United in the Europa League round of 32.
He will aim to replicate his heroics against Madrid, when he helped Brugge draw 2-2 in a UCL group game at Santiago Bernabeu, as that feat brought him to the attention of top clubs across Europe and he will have another chance to put himself in the shop window against United.
A report by HLN adds that The Red Devils could equally enter the race for Bonaventure, along with their EPL rivals, Newcastle, Brighton, Sheffield United and Watford, as well as Borussia Dortmund of Germany, who are all said to be in contact with Brugge over a possible sale of the fast-rising free-scoring youngster.
