Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has disclosed that he was inspired to try a spectacular strike in action with his club last weekend after seeing what Luis Suarez did for Barcelona of Spain a week earlier, megasportsarena.com reports.
All mouths were left agape, as Bonaventure scored a huge contender for goal of the season in Brugge’s 3-0 victory over Mechelen on Sunday evening, and stated afterwards that he saw the beauty of Suarez’s brilliant finish in Barca’s 5-2 win over Real Mallorca, which he told himself he should be able to replicate with his club.
So it turned out that the 22-year-old Super Eagles’ rookie, who now has seven goals in 23 games across all competitions, struck in amazing fashion on the half-hour, after beating the opponents’ offside trap and he calmly slotted past the goalkeeper with a back-heel.
He revealed afterwards that he was amazed seeing Suarez’s goal and was delighted that he was able to achieve a similar feat, after keeping it in his mind and pondering over it for a week, in which time he admits the zeal and desire tol make his own mark kept burning higher within him.
Bonaventure added: “I had seen that super goal from Suarez with Barcelona last weekend. And I thought to myself, I should try that too. If that also succeeds, then you are naturally very happy . I really didn’t know if I was offside or not, but when the ref pointed to the center circle after the VAR intervened, I was naturally overjoyed.”
