Boavista of Portugal defender, Chidozie Awaziem has downplayed the extent of the latest injury to hit him in action with his club, as the Super Eagles’ versatile player insists it was a mere knock that he will soon overcome, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although the official medical verdict has emerged from the club’s doctors to explain Awaziem’s condition and reveal when he is expected back in action, the lad on loan from FC Porto off Portugal stressed that there is no cause for alarm.
Rather than dwell on worries over likely repercussions of his latest knock in the Portuguese top-flight league, Awaziem chose instead to celebrate his side’s victory in the game, Boavista trudged on despite seeing him bow out before full time.
While also expressing enthusiasm that he will be back in action against Sporting Braga this weekend, the 24-year-old stopper-cum-right-back added that the win against Pacos has given his side a big morale booster and they now hope to build on that to ensure they beat the drop and remain in the elite division.
He also expressed a sense of pride in having captained his side to their best run this campaign as they have gone three games unbeaten, winning two on the trot, such that Awaziem and his pals are buzzing with confidence ahead of their trip to the league leaders and he hopes to be fully fit for the crunch clash.
Awaziem told AOIFootball.com: “It was nothing serious actually. I suffered a miss-step in the game and I had to be taken off for precautionary reasons and the medics have assessed me and I happen to be fit for our next game against Sporting.”
