A recent declaration by Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala that she would love to leave the Catalan club this summer has gone viral once again, sequel to an updated report carried on the matter by a leading newspaper in the Iberian nation, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Oshoala declared some months back that she would prefer leaving Barca and head back to England, following her falling out with the club’s coach, Lluís Cortés and her words have now been highlighted in the media.
The issue has been brought to light once again, after Mundo Deportivo reported at the weekend that Oshoala is determined to end her association with the Spanish and European champions in the summer transfer window.
The former FC Robo Queens of Lagos, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, Arsenal and Liverpool Ladies of England as well as Dalian Quanjian of China lass has scored 43 goals in 49 league appearances for Barcelona since initially arriving on loan, before the deal was made permanent the following season.
She, however, appears disillusioned after just two years in Spain and a return to England has been touted for her, especially with Manchester United repeatedly mentioned with interest in the Nigerian captain, whose deal with The Blaugranes expires in 2022.
Dramatically, Oshoala is not alone in her descent for Cortés, as the Spanish sports daily noted that she aims to move on due to her poor relationship with the gaffer.
Despite Cortés having won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Primera Iberdola and Copa de la Reina, most of Oshoala’s teammates also want the coach fired before next season.
The Super Falcons’ captain is not happy that she lost her place in the starting line-up, as she only played from the bench in the last three games of the WUCL and domestic league.
Oshoala first served her exit hint back in April when she posted on social media: “This man only talks to me when he needs me… I am working to find a better environment for myself. Summer is near.”
