Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala has admitted she is missing something by staying at home, due to the social distancing and lockdown rules that have been imposed on account of the escalating effects of coronavirus pandemic in the country where she is based, megasportsarena.com reports.
Oshoala hinted as much by asking a rhetorical question about what everyone who is now on lockdown could be missing from staying indoors, rather than being outside, as the effects of COVID-19 have put a hold on all football action, social interactions, travelling and other daily activities that normally keep people busy and excited all year round.
However, while admitting she is missing daily training sessions with her teammates and action during league matches with the squad, Oshoala acknowledged that staying at home during this period of the deadly respiratory ailment ravaging across the world is the best choice to make.
She went philosophical in affirming that going outside instead of staying a t home, as directed by health experts, could end seeing someone miss the good life, family comfort, moments to relax and hope for a better future once they decide to continue being outside.
The former FC Robo Queens of Lagos, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, Liverpool Ladies and Arsenal Female of England as Dalian Quanjian of China star, who is now Nigeria’s women’s national team, Super Falcons’ captain, added that it is better to miss fun for a while and stay safe at home during this period of COVID-19, then gain a lot more in days to come.
She twice took to social media to convey her thoughts, reflections both sides of the coin, in support of the urge to continue going out and living life as normal, as well as taking note of the dangers that could accrue should anyone fail to abide with all subsisting health regulations.
Oshoala first posted her confession about boredom from staying at home: “Hello gumoreen ooo, I jus wantu say OTI SU MI….ayam tayad 🤦🏽♀️😭’;” then added a rhetorical question to pointedly press home the need for self-isolation, stating: “What do y’all miss about being outside?”
Both posts came in the wake of Oshoala’s presence in a new video campaign launched by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to further drive home to all followers of the game and the general public the gains of self-isolation and social distancing in order to quell COVID-19.
The four time African Women Footballer of The Year teamed up with two other Falcons’ stars, Francisca Ordega and Desire Oparanozie in urging Nigerians to stay home amid the COVID-19 scourge, while helping the NFF spread the campaign to combat the effects of coronavirus.
The Falcons’ trio is part of a collection of 19 players pooled together by the NFF to convey useful messages in their ‘stay home video,’ which is aimed at promoting to the essence of maintaining all restrictions announced by the federal government as well as continuing with various personal hygiene activities that would put an end to the escalation of COVID-19 in the country.
Oshoala opened the campaign by saying: “I just want to use this medium to let everyone know that it’s not safe out there right now. Let’s try as much as we can to stay indoors and abide by the rules given by the government and also that of the Nigeria Football Federation.”
Oparanozie, a striker with Guingamp of France, who captained the Falcons at last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in the country where she plies her soccer trade, added: “The more adherent we are, the sooner this goes away and life can come back to normal;” while Ordega, a winger with Shanghai Shenhua Female Club of China, said: “Wash your hands all the time. Let’s try to eat healthily. Let’s use a lot of hand sanitizers.”
