New signing at Fatih Karagumruk of Turkey, Ahmed Musa has quickly earned a tag of ‘offensive player’ at the ambitious club, which officially announced his arrival on Thursday.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, following confirmation of the deal, the largely unknown Turkish side celebrated their new acquisition and rolled out an official message to spotlight the swoop.
Musa was officially unveiled after signing for the Turkish Super Lig club that is based in Istanbul, and finished eighth last season, thereby providing a fresh outlet for the Super Eagles’ captain, who has been club hunting since quitting Al-Nassr of Suadi Arabia last October.
Though he opted for a brief spell with his foundation club, Kano Pillars in Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Musa’s eyes had always been elsewhere, as he never hid his desire to return to Europe.
That desire has finally come to fruition for the 28-year-old fleet-footed attacker-cum-winger, who left Pillars for VV Venlo of Netherlands in 2011, then moved on to CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England for a then club record fee of 19.5 million Euros in 2016.
He later signed with Al-Nasr in 2018 for 16.5 million Euros and the soft-spoken star, who has played 87 matches and scored 15 goals for the Super Eagles, has played 329 professional games, scored 88 goals and contributed 63 assists.
Musa’s stats were collated in a summarized chart by the media unit of his new club, which stated: “We added the 28-year-old Nigerian offensive player to our squad.
“During his career, he played for clubs such as VVV Venlo, CSKA Moscow and Leicester City. He scored 15 goals in 87 matches for the Nigerian National Team.
“We wish success to Ahmed Musa under the Karagümrük jersey, signed by our Vice President Serkan Hurma and our Sporting Director Murat Akın.”
