RB Leipzig of Germany winger, Ademola Lookman has found a cloud of doubt hanging over the possibility of him moving to Newcastle United this month, as The Magpies’ coach, Steve Bruce has admitted that his club cannot afford the lad’s transfer fee.
Megasportsarena.com learnt that, in spite of initial talk that Lookman could be on his way to Saint James’ Park in the ongoing January transfer window, and put an end to his dismal fortunes during a second stint at Leipzig, Bruce confessed that a deal to take the Nigerian-born forward to Newcastle is a “bit far off.”
A report by Sky Sports added that, although Lookman welcomed the link to Newcastle with a lot of enthusiasm, as he direly wants to leave Leipzig, just six months after joining the high-riding German Bundesliga club from Everton, his hope is bound to be dashed.
This is because the England under-21 international, who has started a single Bundesliga game for Leipzig this season, is earning wages far out of the reach of Toon, and Bruce admitted that he cannot pull off a deal for the lad he tagged a player of interest to him.
“I think I’ve been linked with 38 players and he’s another one of them. He’s a good player; I like him, but who wouldn’t do? It’s a bit far off at the moment,” Bruce concluded.
