RB Leipzig of Germany winger, Ademola Lookman could be set to leave the Bundesliga high-flyers before the January transfer window closes on Friday, but that would be if any interested club can cough out nothing less than €18m, or even more, megasportsarena.com reports.
That is the new transfer fee Leipzig have placed on Lookman, as they appear finally yielding to pressure for a transfer deal for the youngster, who earlier this week confirmed that he is ready to switch allegiance from playing for England to donning Nigeria’s green-and-white jersey.
Although he was part of England’s gold medal-winning team at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Lookman has sent out emissaries to confirm his interest in playing for Nigeria at full senior level, with that development coming at a point leading German newspaper, Kicker reported that the former Everton winger has been put up for sale by Leipzig.
Although no firm offer has arrived for the want-away Lookman, who had a swell time on loan at Leipzig last season from Everton, but has found the going tough this term, since sealing a return to the former East Germany club last summer for €18m.
However, his chances of moving back to England were boosted when Newcastle United’s coach, Steve Bruce admitted his admiration for the ex-youth international but, with The Magpies yet to make a formal approach, Leipzig may be forced seeing Lookman stay for remainder of the term.
