Enyimba of Aba coach, Usman Abdallah has enthused that The Peoples’ Elephant will be among the top-six clubs that will do battle in the play-off stage of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Abdallah said their position was guaranteed by a 2-0 victory against Niger Tornadoes on Monday, which he says came through determination on the part of his players, as they all want to be in the Super-6 play-off.
The soft-spoken gaffer reckoned during a chat with Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that Enyimba got the hard-earned victory against their fiery visitors from Minna because his players went all out for maximum points from the game, which was against one of the fiercest rivals they could come up against in the Nigerian top-flight.
Enyimba edged their hard-fighting Minna visitors with goals by Ifeanyi Anaemena, who scored from the penalty spot, and Ibrahim Mustapha, to help The Peoples Elephant stay third, with 33 points from 21 games.
In the wake of Monday’s victory in Aba, Abdallah is now thinking big of lining his squad out in the NPFL Super-6, but admits they must not lose their last match away, in order to end up as third placed in Group A.
He, however, hinted that The Aba Elephants will put in their best to end the regular round of matches on a high, in order to set themselves on a winning note into the decisive play-off stage of the season.
Ábdallah stated: “We needed the three points and we went for it. We are happy that we got the victory.
“Now that we’ve got it, we just need to keep going. We will not relax for our last match, because we want to keep winning.”
