Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has cast his mind ahead of his side’s next fixture in the English Premier League and declared that he and his colleagues will be ready, because they always work hard ahead of each game.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, heading into the fixture against West Ham United, Ndidi acknowledged how his side pulled off victory on their opening game of the new season in the EPL and enthused that they have been buoyed to maintain the momentum.
He praised The Foxes’ top striker, Jamie Vardy for the manner in which he managed to score during their first game of the new campaign and reckoned further that the same spirit and zeal will guide them to get victory against The Hammers on Monday.
The former Nath Boys of Lagos and Racing Genk of Belgium central-defender-turned-holding-midfielder added that The Foxes will be hoping to make it two wins in two EPL matches when they visit David Moyes’ team in London.
The Super Eagles’ box-to-box player also admitted that he is expecting a tough time in Monday’s fixture, especially after both teams started the campaign on winning notes, with The Hammers fighting back from a goal deficit to claim all three points against Newcastle United, while Leicester defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 with Vardy’s first-half strike.
While reviewing last Saturday’s win, the 24-year-old Ndidi said he is still in awe of how Vardy finished Ricardo Pereira’s cross towards the end of the first-half and he is now confident that the Brendan Rodgers’ side can pick up at least a point on the road from Monday’s game.
“It’s going to be a tough one. We’ll see what we can do. We’ve worked hard for it. We work hard for every game that comes ahead, so we’ll see what comes out of that game.
“Fingers crossed we can get something out of it so let’s go. I feel very well, I feel great. It was a good feeling to get three points in the first game of the season to just give us the confidence to go ahead. It was really good.
“Of course, the second half was really, really tough. We had a lot of pressure and, as the manager always says, you have to stay in the game, deal with it, and look forward to getting what you can get.
“I still do not understand how Vards got there. Even during the game I was saying to Daniel [Amartey]: ‘I don’t understand how Vards got there and then dipped it into the goal!’
“It was brilliant from Ricardo to get past those guys and then the cross. I still don’t understand how Vards got there. It was really good, that’s why he’s there, so we move.
“The potential is there, but it’s down to us to keep working hard. It was a really good we could stay in the game,” Ndidi told his club’s official website.
