Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi is bound to face fresh competition for a shirt next season, as The Foxes have moved to sign Boubakary Soumare from Lille Metropole of France, megasportsarena.com reports.
A report out of King Power Stadium reveals that Ndidi could get stiff competition from a former teammate of Victor Osimhen’s next season, as Leicester are close to reaching a deal with the new French Ligue 1 champions for the signature of 22-year-old Soumare.
The report adds that Soumare is keen on a move to Leicester, and has been encouraged by his international team-mate, Wesley Fofana, who moved to King Power Stadium in October, and Osimhen’s former pl at Lille could be on the way to rivaling Ndidi in a deal that could be worth up to £18m.
Speculations are also rising that the transfer will not be completed until Soumare has finished his time playing in the U21s Euros – with France’s opening game of the summer finals on Monday against the Netherlands
Soumare has long been a target for Leicester, who are keen to further strengthen their squad after missing out on Champions League qualification with defeat to Spurs on the final day of the season, but there are still contractual details to be agreed.
Consequently, Lille have delayed talks until now because they did not want any distraction for the team as they secured the French title for the first time in 10 years at the weekend.
