SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has put himself in contention for a quick return to action after another scary head injury, as the Super Eagles’ youngster is back in training with his team, megasportsarena.com reports.
In contrast with widespread worries that a clash of heads he suffered during last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home with Cagliari could see him return to the sidelines for another long spell, Osimhen has shaken off the knock and dusted himself up for action this weekend.
Reports out of Naples indicate that the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman could be available for selection this weekend, after he returned to full training on Tuesday.
He will now aim to continue the battle for Napoli and boost their bid to play next season in the UEFA Champions League football next season, and he could be on the pitch again this weekend, so soon after he was forced out of a game in which his first-half strike was cancelled out by the visiting team in stoppage time.
Osimhen, who has scored three goals in his last three matches, has a total of six goals and an assist in the last 10 games for Napoli, with a goal contribution every 79 minutes, since his arrival from Lille in Napoli’s biggest transfer figure ever, and he will now aim for another against Spezia this weekend.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer was spotted in photographs about the session, as Napoli’s media unit wrote: “The Azzurri are preparing the match against Spezia scheduled for Saturday at 15 for the 35th matchday of Serie A.
“The team trained on field 1 starting the session with 2 groups playing bull. Subsequently work aimed at ball possession and technical tactical session.
“Closing with a small game in a reduced field. Ospina carried out personalized work in the field 2. Rest for Lobotka who underwent tonsillectomy. The blue midfielder will resume work in two weeks.”
