Spartak Moscow of Russia winger, Victor Moses has admitted that he is disappointed and sad, despite notching two assists against Leicester City of England in the UEFA Europa League, as his side lost the game 4-3 at home.
The former Super Eagles star played all 90 minutes of the game, which also had Kelechi Iheanacho getting two assists and full duration action with the visitors, who romped from behind to steal maximum points on the road.
In reaction to his team’s implosion, Moses admitted he was alarmed seeing his side give up a two-goal lead in the matchday three fixture at Stadion Spartak in Moscow and declared that his brace of goals became meaningless.
While noting how Zambian attacker, Patson Daka proved himself to be a good player by scoring four goals in the match, with the first two assists from Iheanacho, Moses wondered why he should celebrate personal glory after his team lost at home.
The former Crystal Palace, Wigan Athletic, Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham United and Chelsea of England star, who has also previously played on loan at Fernebahce of Turkey and Inter Milan of Italy, indeed had a great individual performance on the night in Moscow.
However, after providing assists for two of three goals netted by The Red-and-Whites, Moses insisted that his efforts meant nothing to him, as the visitors impressed in the second half and got three goals through Daka.
That turned what could have been a disaster into a comfortable victory, as Iheanacho and his colleagues hooked their first victory in the group stage of the second-tier European clubs’ competition, while leaving Moses o rue what went wrong with his squad.
Moses submitted: “Assists doesn’t mean really nothing to me, the most important thing for me is we should have won the game today.
“It’s not about the assists, it’s not about individual right now. I just want the team to win, when the team wins that’s when I’m happy, so assist is nothing to me.”
