Former Super Eagles’ winger, Victor Moses has reportedly gained summer transfer attention from AS Roma of Italy, and the Rome-based side appear ready to pounce once his current loan deal with their Serie A rivals, Inter Milan expires this week, megasportsarena.com reports.
Moses has spent the second half of this season on loan from Chelsea of England at Inter, but his future is in doubt at both Stamford Bridge and The San Siro, such that Roma are making plans to lure away the crafty lad, who has 13 appearances in all competitions for The Nerazzurri.
A report by Calciomercato adds that Chelsea are ready to sell the former Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic lad, who they had previously loaned to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United of England as well as Fernebahce of Turkey, as The he Blues aim to cash in on the star, especially as he has struggled for form in recent time and he keeps battling series of injuries.
This is despite additional reports noting that Moses is expected to return to Chelsea in the coming days but, considering that he has just a year left to run on his contract, he could be an ideal transfer bait for The Blues, and Roma are now said to be highly interested in signing the 29-year-old versatile player in order to help them to strengthen down the right-side ahead of next season.
That could mark the end of an era for Moses, who signed for Chelsea in 2012 but has been out on loan five times, but his latest stop at Inter has failed to yield the desire dividends of his much-touted reunion with Italian tactician, Antonio Conte, who gave the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner a revival during their time together at Stamford Bridge.
British tabloid, Daily Mail added: “Victor Moses could return to Serie A next season with Roma in pursuit of the Chelsea winger. The 29-year-old, who has not played for the Blues since 2018, sealed a temporary move to Inter Milan in January after his 18-month loan deal with Turkish side Fernebahce was cut short.
“The winger linked up with his former boss Antonio Conte at the San Siro but a thigh injury has limited him to 14 appearances and just six starts and he is likely to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of his loan. Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has also brought Bruno Peres back from a spell with Brazilian side Sport Recife meaning Moses would likely come in as a back-up choice.
“Inter have three Serie A games remaining and are still in the Europa League, where they face Spanish side Getafe in the last-16. Despite suffering with injuries, Moses has managed four assists in nine league games for the Italian side.
“The winger signed for Chelsea in 2012 but has been sent out on loan five times during his eight-year spell, spending time with Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham before his recent moves to Fenerbahche and Inter. His most successful season in a Chelsea shirt came during Conte’s reign with the manager converting him to a right wing-back, helping the club win the Premier League title in 2017.”
