Former Super Eagles’ defender, Uche Agbo has gained a fresh lift in his flagging career, as the versatile star, who has played recently in Portugal, Belgium and Spain, has come under the management team of fast-rising Nigerian players’ representative, Stephen Ayodele Makinwa.
Agbo, who is currently on the cards of Deportivo La Coruña of Spain, will now hope to get better trappings and leaps on and off the field, as Makinwa has been known to propel his wards and clients to higher ground once he takes over all aspects of their management.
Megasportsaena.com reports that Makinwa’s efforts have been of immense benefit in the past to another former Eagles’ midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi as well as Golden Eaglets’ winning captain at UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Musa Mohammed.
Uche Henry Agbo, who was born on December 4, 1995 in Kano, has previously played for FC Taraba of Jalingo, JUTH FC of Jos, Enyimba of Aba, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain, Watford of England, Standard Liege of Belgium, Rayo Vallecano of Sapin and Sporting Braga of Portugal.
He got his first Super Eagles’ invitation in place of injured Leon Adeemi Balogun for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia in October 2016, but did not get his debut until June 1, 2017, during a 3–0 win over Togo in an international friendly.
The versatile player, who can line out in defence or midfield, went on as substitute for Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi in that encounter and was then included in Nigeria’s preliminary 30-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but he did not make the final list of 23.
Other players that have enjoyed Makinwa’s management acumen include Ezekiel Henry (aka Henty), Amarachi Osuji, Joshua Akpudje, Blessing Eleke, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy), Stanley Anuzie and, who all together known as Makoz Group.
It is also another contract coup for Makinwa, whose decision to become a football agent was influenced by Henty’s advice that he quit football and manage him, before which the ex-international had one agent all through his playing days, being Silvano Martina, who is also the representative of legendary goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.
Makinwa posted on social media after sealing the deal in A Coruña, Spain: “It’s with great pleasure that I welcome @uchehenryagbo to the @makoz_group family… thanks for the trust and cheers to new beginnings and brighter future 💪🏾🥂✍🏾⚽️ #makozgroup #topplayer #focus #newbeginnings #brighterfuture #quality.”
