Fulham of England defender, Tosin Adarabioyo has entered the transfer radar at Southampton, as the English Premier League side desire to shore up their leaky defence, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Southampton appear to have struggled at the back in their first game of the season, Adarabioyo is keen on returning to action in the top-flight, which could now pave way for his move to Saint Mary’s.
That would accord Adarabioyo another opportunity of enjoying EPL action, as he had sparingly during his time with Manchester City, but his aspirations are not cast in stone for now.
That is sequel to a reverberating angle to the story, which reveals that Southampton are seeking a replacement for Jannik Vestergaard after his sale to Leicester City and a move for Adarabioyo is one name being discussed.
Sky Sports News added that Adarabioyo might end up getting the deal, as reported interest by The Saints in current free agent, Gary Cahill is not currently being considered as an option by the club’s hierarchy.
While Southampton have also been made aware of Ozan Kabak’s availability for another loan from Schalke 04 of Germany, other clubs in the EPL also considering signing the same player, thereby giving Adarabioyo an edge in the route to Saint Mary’s.
The report added: “Ex-Manchester City academy graduate Adarabioyo is keen to return to Premier League football after impressing last season despite Fulham being relegated.
“Adarabioyo was statistically among the best performing centre-backs in the top-flight last term. Newcastle and Norwich have also made inquiries about him this summer.
“Across 33 appearances, he made more interceptions per 90 minutes (6.56) than any of the other centre-back in the Premier League last season, according to Wyscout.
“He also made more successive defensive actions per90 (9.8) than Harry Maguire, and committed the second-least fouls per 90 behind John Stones.”
