Tammy Abraham Professes Love For Roma But Tightlipped About His Future

0

Tammy Abraham reiterated he has ‘fallen in love’ with Roma and is very grateful to them for ‘giving me the opportunity to show myself,’ but wouldn’t confirm whether he’d still be there next season, Megasportsarena.com reports.

The Giallorossi comfortably swept Torino aside 3-0 away from home to secure their top six finish, which might even be fifth if Lazio lose to Verona tomorrow evening.

That means they will play in the Europa League next season, even if they don’t win the Conference League Final against Feyenoord in Tirana on Wednesday.

Abraham bagged a brace, with Lorenzo Pellegrini converting a penalty late on for a foul on Nicolò Zaniolo.

With 17 goals, Abraham is now the top-scoring Englishman in a single Serie A season, beating the record of 16 set by Gerry Hitchens for Inter in 1961-62.

“I would’ve loved to get three and score a hat-trick for my team, but the most important thing is we won. It’s been a long hard season, fair play to all my teammates, we’ve done well, now we’ve got a Final to look forward to and we’re all excited,” Abraham told DAZN.

In all competition, the former Chelsea striker has found the net 26 times in 51 appearances. Is this the season that saw him improve the most under the guidance of Jose Mourinho?

“Like I’ve always said, I fell in love with this club from the first day and I will always help the team as much as possible with my goals and assists.

“It’s been a good year for me, I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year.”

The Europa Conference League Final is against Feyenoord on Wednesday evening in Tirana.

“This is a dream come true for Roma fans, for the club, we’ve made it to the Final, now we have to rest and recover well, so hopefully we’ll be celebrating on Wednesday night.”

Abraham was asked if he will still be in Serie A with the Roma jersey next season, amid growing speculation of a possible Premier League return to Arsenal or Manchester United.

“I love this club. They’ve given me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We’ll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.”
