Tammy Abraham couldn’t quite believe Roma earned a 4-1 victory away to Atalanta with his brace. ‘What a win! A lot of people doubted us.’
The Giallorossi had opened the scoring within the first minute thanks to an Abraham counter-attack, with deflection off Hans Hateboer.
Nicolò Zaniolo doubled their lead, Luis Muriel’s shot was deflected off Bryan Cristante for 2-1 and an Atalanta equaliser was disallowed for a contentious offside, at which point Chris Smalling and Abraham again consolidated the rout.
“What a win! What. A. Win. I don’t know what else to say,” a clearly emotional Abraham told DAZN.
“A lot of people doubted us, said it was Mission Impossible for our team, but this is by far one of the best wins we’ve had this season. You can see by the reaction of the travelling fans and everyone. What a win!”

“It was emotions, we are both passionate about the game, knew today was important for us and the fans. We didn’t even speak, it was just a hug and you could see what it meant to both of us.”
This was also a special night because Zaniolo scored his first Serie A goal since July 2020, having suffered from two devastating knee injuries.
“You can see the way the whole team celebrated his goal. He’s had a hard time, every time he plays he gives his all for this club. I love playing with him and I’m so happy for him.”
