Super Eagles Land In Abuja Ahead Of Tuesday’s Decisive Second Leg

0

The Super Eagles of Nigeria landed back home in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday, following their goalless draw with Ghana’s Black Stars in their 2022 World Cup play-off on Friday at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Megasportsarena.com reports that Tuesday’s reverse fixture, which is billed to commence at 6pm, will hold at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where Eagles’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has outlined his build-up on arrival back.

He pointed out that his plan for the reverse fixture commenced immediately after the final whistle of Friday’s goalless draw in Kumasi, following which the Eagles’ delegation quickly departed their abode at Golden Tulip Hotel.

They quickly settled down back at Well Carlton Hotel and Apartments and continue preparation for the encounter billed for the recently renovated arena located on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Tuesday’s game will mark another chapter in the chequered history of rivalry between both Anglophone West African countries, who have played each other 57 times – including Friday’s barren draw.

Nigerian fans are now praying for a repeat of history, recalling how the Eagles won their face-off in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers, as played out a goalless draw in Ghana and then romped to a 3-0 victory over the Black Stars at home.

A post on social media by the team’s media unit stated: “We have landed in Abuja … time to seal the 2022 World Cup ticket on Tuesday. Soar Super Eagles.”
